The moderator of this tribe has been gone for years. This hasn't been much of a problem, but when we got spammed recently there was nobody around to clean it up. I've been appointed temporary moderator of this tribe, and I've removed the spam from last week.
I'm opening the floor for nominations/volunteers to take over the role of moderator. If there's a consensus candidate, I'll turn the tribe over to that person. If we have more than one candidate, I'll run an election.

Re: Looking for a new moderator
Sun, October 18, 2009 - 6:44 PMIf nominated, I will not accept. If elected, I will not serve. I don't want to be the permanent moderator-- I just took it temporarily so I could clean up the spam.

Re: Looking for a new moderator
Fri, October 23, 2009 - 10:55 PMOK. Tag, you're it.
I don't think there's a lot of work involved-- we've effectively been without a moderator for several years. I cleaned up some of the listing and review spam that was on the tribe, but leaving it there doesn't really hurt much. Have fun! -

Re: Looking for a new moderator
Fri, October 23, 2009 - 11:11 PMOK, I clicked back to home and saw the M next to the tribe.
OK folks, I will do my best.
Be nice. No spam. Going off topic isn't a sin once in a while. Post links and not the entire article. Don't hesitate to tell the mod he did it wrong. And if you see me miss something or I didn't grab a mod request in a day or so, feel free to PM me.
Thanks

Re: Looking for a new moderator
Tue, October 27, 2009 - 9:05 PMThanks Michael.
Hoping we can get some good banter here. Always love the discussions that people get passionate about. Sort of those like the question "where does digital photography end and digital artistry begin?" This is one of those fluid ones where the answers 5 or 10 years ago might have been very different from people's thoughts today.
I also really appreciate that we seem to be a respectable tribe able to share opinions without pretentiousness or bigotry.
Be well,

IMHO, you don't need "digital" in there. Photography is BOTH an art, and a craft. It says so, right there in the "intro to photography" lecture I wrote. ;-) Seriously, folks: I've seen people insist that photography is NOT an art, is ONLY "documentary" in nature. Others will tell you that it's an art-form whose parameters allow "semi-" or "pseudo-" documentary uses. Both sides are "wrong" (and both are also "right").
